On November 4th we had our annual Youth Recognition Evening at Colvin Community Center. It was a huge success. Thank you to each club member for your support making it happen. We were able to recognition 20 nominated students from our community for their exemplary behavior, academics, and dedication to their schools. We were also able to recognize an Educator of the Year, Mrs. Rachel Webb, for her amazing 27 year career as a teacher at Vine Grove Elementary School.
In addition to our club certificates, we were able to present these amazing individuals with a gift bag/gift basket filled with gift certificates from local businesses. What a huge blessing!
We would like to say a huge Thank You to the following businesses for their support:
- Taco Bell (In front of Neighborhood Walmart) for their donation of enough gift certificates for each student to receive 3 free Tacos and our educator of the year gift basket to receive some as well.
- The Gathering Bakery for their donation of a $25 gift card, which went into our educator of the year gift basket.
- Colton’s Steakhouse and Grill for their donation of $10 gift cards for each elementary age student and $15 gift cards for each middle/high school age student, allowing each student to receive a free meal. We had enough left that we were able to gift one to our educator of the year gift basket as well.
- Crafthouse Pizza for their donation of free cheese bread for each student and a $25 gift card for our educator of the year.
- McDonald’s (Corner of Joe Prather and Dixie Highway) for their donation of a free dessert for all students.
We also had donations for stress balls, chapstick, and other misc. items from club members Debra Heighter and Maria Batistoni, as well as Silverleaf.
School staff from our local schools: thank you for your nominations and for pouring into your students.
Parents: thank you for bringing your child tonight. Thank you for the constant support you clearly give your children.
Students: thank YOU! This event would not happen if it wasn’t for you and the work you put into your academics, your community, and yourself.
